Dear Paul & Hazel, I wanted to say thanks very much for a highly enjoyable introduction to the world of camper vans! I've watched our next door neighbours with their array of caravans and large motorhomes over the past 8 years and always thought it looked like a lot of fun, Being experienced tent campers for the past 20 years, we were both very impressed by the additional levels of comfort you can achieve in a camper van, particularly not having to trek outside to the toilet block in the middle of the night (always a hassle) and also not having to carefully plan meals that depend on the use of a single Trangia gas stove. Having a proper fridge and gas hob was fantastic.
I was initially a little apprehensive about driving something as large as a big Transit van, but very quickly got used to it, and I particularly enjoyed being able to see over hedges as we drove along! We covered just under 500 miles during our Week in Northumberland, and achieved an average of 40 miles to the gallon, which my neighbours were extremely impressed by. No shortage of power either, it was great to be able to overtake easily on the motorways.
Paul did a great job of clearly explaining all the things we needed to know before we set off (like gas & water supplies, power hook-up, chemical toilet use, heating etc) and we had absolutely no problems. It’s obvious that he takes a lot pride in the business and wants customers to enjoy their hire as much as possible. I did quite a lot of research on the Internet before deciding who to hire from, and definitely made the best choice based on value for money, quality and customer care. If I wasn’t in full-time work and could go away most Weekends I‘d buy one ASAP! As it is, I can’t wait to hire one again for our next break. I would thoroughly recommend Compact Camper Hire to anyone.

Dear Paul & Hazel, Having not owned or rented a camper van before I trawled the internet looking for a rental company. The prices were generally high, especially the deposits and I was uncertain that we would get a good deal with a decent company and the right van for us. What sold this company to me was the way Paul talked to me during my initial telephone call with him. He didn’t give me the "corporate speak", he was extremely straight forward, casual, honest and helpful. Based on the phone conversation I felt that this was the right company and we booked soon after. I also called them a few times after I had booked to check on what would be in the van and what else I might need, they were always happy to advise us. On Paul's advice to "campervan virgins” we rented the Mercedes four berth for a week for two adults. The Mercedes was great, plenty of room and masses of power under the bonnet. Everything that Paul and Hazel explained to us we found to be accurate. One of the best pieces of advice was, as being new to campervans, not stretch myself if I was only renting for a week. That was great, we drove to Norfolk and had a blast.
Dropping the van back at the end of the week was so simple and casual, we felt like they were family friends rather than an unknown rental company. I would recommend them without reservation as they were helpful, friendly, excellent value for money and provided a great service. Book with Paul and Hazel and save yourself hours on the internet and a hefty deposit. By the way, book for two weeks because you won't to give it back after a week!! Thank you both, see you again.

Dear Paul & Hazel We hired the Independence 2 berth for a period of 3 weeks (July-August 2010) and wanted to let you know how we rated the campervan.
First and foremost it was by far the cheapest to hire out. My husband and I travelled from London to York to pick up the van. The price included fully comprehensive insurance, unlimited mileage and no extra charge for a second driver.
The van was very comfortable and roomy for 2 persons. There was plenty of storage space with the added benefit of shower and toilet facilities. The layout of the inside of the van made for a nice roomy living space, we did not feel cramped on any part of our journey and liked the fact that the shower/toilet facilities were located at the back which we could access with ease when the bed was made fully made up. The van was light and airy and all windows had fly screens. The cooking facilities were ample and fully equipped. (I did miss a microwave thou)
The van itself was lovely and easy to drive and had power when you needed it. It was very economical to drive too, we roughly worked out that it was 37 miles to the gallon. We had such a fantastic trip travelling all around North East England and Scotland we didn't want our holiday to end.
To sum up the campervan, it was very comfortable to live in and a joy to drive, Thank you Paul and Hazel,
