Description
The Elddis Owners Club was formed in 1973 when 76 Elddis Caravan Owners attended an
inaugural meeting at Gosforth Park, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Several of those original members are
still active in the club. In the early 1970's clubs wishing to hold rallies had to apply to
the relevant planning authority for each one, but by 1976 the Club had persuaded the Department
of the Environment that it was fit to be granted an exemption certificate.
With the exemption certificate, rallies of up to 120 hours duration could be held anywhere in
England and Wales as long as the landowner's permission was obtained.
By Easter 1978, the
Club was celebrating its 100th rally, and by August 1987, it was celebrating
its 1000th! In 2007 we reached our 3000th rally.
We continue to hold about 70 rallies every year. We rally throughout the year
and across the length and breadth of the country. Most years we have at least
one continental rally as
well. On January 1st 1998, the Elddis Owners Club Limited was formed, and all
the assets ofthe Elddis Owners Club were transferred to the new company. |
